What logo file do I need for embroidery?
One of the first questions we get asked is, “what file do you need for my logo?” The honest answer: send whatever you’ve got, and we’ll sort the rest. But if you’d like the short version, here it is.
The ideal files
Embroidery machines don’t read a JPEG — they follow a stitch file that tells the needle exactly where to go. To build that cleanly, we like to start from the best-quality version of your logo we can get:
- Vector files (best): AI, EPS, PDF or SVG — sharp at any size.
- High-resolution images (fine): a large, clear PNG or JPG.
- Anything else (still send it): a screenshot, a photo of an old garment, a sketch.
What “digitising” actually means
Digitising is the skilled bit. We rebuild your logo as an embroidery file — choosing stitch types, directions and density, tidying tiny details so small text stays readable, and sizing it for the exact garment. A logo at 7cm on a polo and 25cm on a back panel are two different files. It’s why properly digitised embroidery looks crisp, and cheap embroidery often looks furry.
“I don’t have a logo yet”
No problem — we design logos from scratch in-house too. Tell us the vibe, your trade and any colours, and we’ll draw up options, refine them, then digitise the final version ready to stitch.
What it costs
On orders over 12 garments, digitising is free. For smaller runs there’s a one-off charge of around £25–£40, and once it’s done the file is yours and saved forever — so every future order just works.
Don’t overthink it. Send the clearest version of your logo you have through our quote form or on WhatsApp, and we’ll tell you exactly what we need and what it’ll look like stitched — with a proof before we make a single stitch.
